Rates and quotation
Normally, the price is calculated based on a word rate applied to the number of words in the source text, so the text that has to be translated. If the text is supplied in a non-editable format, e.g. scanned, the word rate is applied to the target text.
Our normal word rate varies between 0.12 and 0.16 euro.
Expressed in an average hourly rate this equals 35 euro.
For urgent translation jobs the word rate is increased by 0.02 euro. In addition, a surcharge of 0.02 euro applies if it is necessary to work at night or during the weekend in order to finish the translation in time.
The background of this is that a translator translates between 1500 and 2500 words on average in an eight-hour working day.
We also proofread and correct translations done by others. The average rate for this is 0.03 euro per word. If proofreading implies time-consuming corrections or drastic textual changes, the rate is determined by mutual agreement.
It is often necessary to examine the text that has to be translated or part of it in order to determine the rate. The price is influenced by a number of factors, such as the level of difficulty, specific terminology that can be supplied by the client, and the deadline.
All translation rates for Dutch clients or clients based in the Netherlands are excluding 21% VAT. For clients based in other countries the VAT is shifted or not applicable.
